Frequently Asked Questions

What is your new patient procedure?

The first treatment is called the Initial Osteopathic Treatment. You should allow up to an hour for the first treatment and this includes a full detailed case history, examination and Osteopathic Treatment. The fee for the first treatment is $130 payable in cash with insurance receipt given. All subsequent treatments are around 30 minutes in length and ar $90 payable in cash with insurance receipt given at the end of each treatment. Taxes are included in these fees.

What types of health insurance do you accept?

If your insurance covers Osteopathy then generally you will be covered but we always suggest checking with your insurer first. We do not do direct billing so payments are made in cash with an insurance receipt given at the end of each treatment.

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

We do not require a Doctors referral. For some insurance policies you may need a Doctors referral to be reimbursed so it is worth checking with your insurer.

How much? How long?

The initial treatment is $140 inc. taxes, please allow 1 hour.

Follow up appointments are $100 inc. taxes, please allow 30 minutes.

The timings are a guide as Osteopathy is NOT a time based treatment so it is not 30 minutes table time rather when the treatment is completed it is finished for that session. If you are being offered Osteopathy in 30, 60 or 90 minute sessions it is not osteopathy you are getting.

Are there cracks?

NO! Osteopathy is not like some treatments where the crack is the goal.

Will you put me on a machine and leave me for half an hour?

No, there are not machines used in Osteopathy and you are not left alone.

Do you do massage, chiropractic, physiotherapy and acupuncture?

Just like these other modalities are professions. Osteopathy is not an adjunct or side issue. Osteopathy is a complete drugless system of healing and this is what I specialize in and attempt to perfect. I have found jack of all trades to be masters of none and although would not claim to be a master I certainly concentrate on Osteopathy.

Did you do any training?

I personally trained for 5 years full time at The Maidstone College of Osteopathy in Maidstone, England. This was Mr John Wernhams school and Mr Wernham was one of the best Osteopaths of all time and it was an honour to be taught by him.
It is always good to ask how long your osteopath trained and has much experience they have. The answer may surprise you!

How many years have you practiced Osteopathy?

I have been privileged to practice Osteopathy internationally for over 29 Years

Do I have to wear a mask?

Individual choice is respected

What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a form of manual therapy that aims to promote health and healing by restoring balance to the body's structure and function. It is based on the principle that the body has the ability to self-heal, and that this process can be facilitated through the use of manual techniques to improve the function of the musculoskeletal system.
Osteopathic practitioners use a variety of techniques, including massage, stretching, joint mobilization, and spinal manipulation, to improve the function of the bones, muscles, ligaments, and other connective tissues in the body. By improving the function of these tissues, osteopathy aims to improve overall health and reduce pain and dysfunction.
Osteopathy is a holistic approach that takes into account the interconnectedness of different systems in the body, including the musculoskeletal, circulatory, respiratory, and nervous systems. It aims to address the underlying causes of pain and dysfunction, rather than just treating the symptoms.
Osteopathy is used to treat a wide range of conditions, including back pain, neck pain, headaches, sports injuries, and chronic pain. It can also be used as a preventive measure to improve overall health and well-being.

Why should I go to an Osteopath?

You may consider seeing an osteopath if you are experiencing pain or discomfort in your body, or if you have a condition that affects the musculoskeletal system, such as back pain, neck pain, headaches, or sports injuries. Osteopathy can also be beneficial if you have a chronic condition or are interested in improving your overall health and well-being.
Osteopathy offers a holistic approach to healthcare, focusing on the interrelationship between different systems in the body, including the musculoskeletal, circulatory, respiratory, and nervous systems. It aims to address the underlying causes of pain and dysfunction, rather than just treating the symptoms.
Osteopathic practitioners use a variety of manual techniques to improve the function of the body's structure and function. By improving the function of the bones, muscles, ligaments, and other connective tissues in the body, osteopathy can help reduce pain, improve mobility, and promote overall health.
Osteopathy is a non-invasive and drug-free approach to healthcare, making it a safe and effective option for many people. It is also a complementary therapy that can be used in conjunction with other forms of healthcare to promote optimal health and well-being.
